ghandi in union square
i took this picture this morning when i got off the subway. this is the Ghandi statue that stands in union square. i've always loved how some mornings he would have pieces of clothing on him, a shawl or scarf that someone gave him late at night.
or during the new year people left beads on him.
once he had a peace necklace around him and some daisies in his right hand.
i think it's a beautiful statue and apparently its there to show the history of social activism.
well, i'm glad it's there because i get to see an amazing person everyday (even though he is a bronze statue!)

I have never seen the Ghandi statue, but will make sure with my next visit, that I check it out. I think it is cool that people adorn him with clothing. Perhaps they will stop and think what he stood for and it will touch them in some way.
